Jolene Sidler - Educational Phycologist
My name is Jolene Sidler, and I am a dedicated Educational Psychologist (Opvoedkundige Sielkundige) based in Pretoria. Growing up in South Africa and now married to a Swiss national, I have two wonderful children who have given me firsthand insight into the joys and challenges of parenting.
As a mother myself, I know how important it is to feel confident in the support your family receives. My journey as both a parent and a professional has given me insight into the joys and challenges of raising children, and I bring this empathy to every session.
I am passionate about education and learning – not just learning in the sense of academic or school type learning, but that which enables us to live your best life: optimising our development and ability to adapt and thrive in our world.
I worked for 10 years as a teacher in various contexts and subsequently qualified and work as an educational psychologist. In my practice I work with children and parents, families and individuals in a variety of contexts, facilitating growth and change.

My Academic Journey and Professional Credentials
I am proud to be registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) and the Board of Healthcare Funders (BHF).
My background reflects a deep commitment to understanding child and youth development, focusing on their mental health, resilience, and learning potential.
Here are my academic qualifications:
M.A. (Ed Psych)
Master’s Degree in Educational Psychology – University of Johannesburg (UJ)
B.Ed. Hons (Ed Psych)
Honours Degree in Educational Psychology – University of Pretoria (UP)
B.Ed. Hons (Learn Supp)
Honours Degree in Education Learning Support – University of Pretoria (UP)
B.Ed. FET (Gen)
Bachelor of Education degree focused on the Further Education and Training - University of Pretoria (UP)

My Experience and Passion
I also worked in Mainstream schools including High school and Primary schools. For 8 years, I worked at an LSEN school in Pretoria West, where I gained invaluable experience supporting children with intellectual disabilities, learning barriers, and emotional challenges. This time helped me develop a deep understanding of the complexities of child development and the importance of personalized support for every learner.
As an Educational Psychologist, I specialize in offering services in both Afrikaans and English to meet the diverse needs of my community. Whether it’s helping children prepare for school, guiding families through challenges, or offering career assessments, my goal is always to empower my clients.
